What is Craniosacral Therapy?​

If your body is like a stream, flowing smoothly, and all of a sudden a large boulder, or several small boulders are in the stream, the water has to find a new path. The water does, but now maybe there is less flow and it takes longer for the water to flow thro​ugh the stream. This is what happens when there are restrictions in the body from surgery, traumas and accidents.  The body will still be able to function, but there is more effort, which can translate into headaches, back pain, anxiety, and insomnia to name a few. Craniosacral Therapy helps to remove these restrictions. It helps build health within the brain and central nervous system, so it can help to prevent chronic conditions. It can also help with minor surgeries such as dental work which can create strains and anesthesia residues. It strengthens your whole system.

What is a Craniosacral session like?​

It is best to wear loose, comfortable clothing.   For Craniosacral Therapy you will lay face up on a massage table fully clothed. I may work at your feet, torso or head during the session. Each session may feel different. The pressure used is generally very light. One session you may feel very relaxed, centered and even fall asleep. If your system is tired you'll relax and rest which is very healing in itself. Another session you may feel talkative, notice different sensations in your body, and feel emotions. You may be surprised with benefits you didn't know were possible. You may have a lighter feeling, feel more clear-headed with a better ability to focus. Pains may decrease as your system reorganizes itself.

How many sessions will I need?

Everyone is different, so it is difficult to say how many treatments you would need. Some people need only 3-4 sessions, while others need more. The effect of a session can last for a day or two, and up to a week or longer. Some changes are subtle and some are quite profound. I usually know within 3-4 sessions if I think I can help. It is most helpful to be able to come once or twice a week for the first few sessions to keep gaining momentum with the issue being resolved.
